I advice using a serial resistor, to avoid burning the led.
Calculation is simple. If it's a blue led (± 3V - 20 mA) and you power it with 12V,
than Resistor = (12-3) / 0,02 = 450 Ω
Select 470 Ω

Noit' a momentary switch ! it's just a push button. the contact is made only when the button is pressed and as soon as the button is released the contact stops (like the button of a horn for example)
